Hornbeck & Lower Sacramento Ditch Trails
Upper Sacramento Ditch Trail to Shasta Dam
This is a relatively new trail system developed in 2007 accessed by either Walker Mine Road or Quartz Hill Road. There is a nice loop you can do. Open to mountain bikers, equestrians and hikers.

The Upper Sacramento Ditch Trail opened February-2008. It goes from Walker Mine Road Trailhead up to the Visitor Parking area at Shasta Dam. NOTE: No horse trailer parking at the Dam. Use the Walker Mine Trailhead parking area. Ride up and back. It is about 9 miles one way. Takes about 5 to 6 hours roundtrip. There are 3 small bridges up towards the top, they are horse safe and the trail is very good past the bridges-no problem.

Lassen National Park
Twin Bridges-Hat Creek
If going into the Park, check at the office to pay and ask where you can & can't ride. There are corrals and some horse camping allowed. The backside of Lassen in the Twin Bridges-Hat Creek area is much more horse user friendly. There are endless trails and dirt roads for riding and driving. Lots of campsites along the creek. There is no fee to camp here. There are no facilities so bring water and porta-potties.
